Chinese corporation Hisense has announced an investment of £45 million in a cutting-edge cooling appliance factory located in Valjevo.
This establishment, christened ‘Valjevo 3’, will be the production hub for advanced side-by-side cooling devices under the Hisense, Gorenje, and Asko brands, targeting primarily the demanding European markets.
The advent of this new facility signifies the creation of 1,000 jobs over the forthcoming three years. Nestled alongside existing factory grounds, the new site sprawls over 45,000 square metres, boasting a state-of-the-art production hall occupying 30,000 square metres, complemented by storage facilities and a contemporary staff canteen.
Forecasts suggest that Valjevo 3 will churn out an impressive 750,000 units annually. By 2025, the combined output from all three Gorenje Valjevo units is projected to touch 1.7 million devices per year.
At the opening ceremony, guests were greeted by Hanson Han, CEO of Hisense Europe Group.
In attendance at the factory opening were Ana Brnabić, Prime Minister of Serbia, and Stanka Pejanović, Vice President of the Hisense Europe Group.
Gorenje is part of the multinational corporation Hisense, one of the leading global manufacturers of consumer electronics and home appliances, with over 100,000 employees worldwide and 10,000 in Europe.
These sophisticated cooling gadgets from Valjevo are poised to grace European markets where Hisense already has a strong foothold.
Since the inception of the first factory in Valjevo, over 10 million appliances have been manufactured, with 2022 alone seeing the production of more than 953,000 units.
