Serbia has announced the appointment of two new ambassadors: Ana Petković to Algeria and Aleksandar Janković to Finland. Both appointments received approval from their respective host countries, according to the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ana Petković has been a staple at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1998. Her diplomatic journey includes assignments in Serbian embassies in Rome, Skopje, and Warsaw, where she acted as Chargé d’Affaires from June 2021 to February 2022. Within the Ministry, Petković has worked in departments focusing on neighbouring countries, North and South America.

She has been engaged at the Deputy Secretary level and has held roles in the Minister’s office, leading the Department for Cooperation with State Bodies and International Organisations. A graduate and doctorate holder from the University of Belgrade’s Faculty of Philosophy, Petković is also a writer and translator, fluent in English, French, and Italian.

On the other hand, Aleksandar Janković boasts an academic background from the Faculty of Economics, University of Belgrade, where he completed both his undergraduate and master’s degrees. Since joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1998, Janković has overseen the departments focusing on Asia, Australia, the Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East. His diplomatic assignments have taken him to embassies in London, Nicosia, and Beijing.

Notably, from 2017 to 2021, he served as Serbia’s Ambassador to Algeria. Janković is transitioning to his new role in Finland from his previous post as the Deputy Assistant Minister for Bilateral Cooperation. He is also the author of “Economic Development of China – Connecting the Chinese Way” and is proficient in English and French.
