After a 400-year absence, the Waldrapp Ibis, a migratory bird known to inhabit arid, semi-desert, and rocky terrains, has been spotted once more in Slovenia’s Cerknica plain.

Once more widespread across the Middle East, North Africa, and the Alpine regions, this endangered bird now primarily resides in Morocco, Turkey, and Syria.
Slovenian broadcaster N1 reports that Austrian conservationists are keen on reintroducing the species in their country, which may explain its increasing appearances in Slovenia.
